Dzongu is the secret place, better known as Nye Mayallyang, in North Sikkim, India. "Lyang" the land of hidden treasure and the birth place of peaceful "Rong-kup" Lepcha the indigenous people of Sikkim. Dzongu is officially reserved place for the Lepcha people. It is high up in the mountains, under the lap of mother Kongchen Chu. It is covered with beautiful mountains, river valleys, lakes, waterfalls, hotspring, dense forest, animals and with the beautiful songs of different birds. The Lepcha offers their prayer to Nature, the ITBU-MO, the mother who herself created Kongchen Chu, the guardian deity of the people. Dzongu is 65Km from Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. It is divided into two regions, Lower and Upper. Our homestay situated in Tingvong, a dazzling village of Upper Dzongu. Best time to visit: April to May (Flowering) and October to January (Autum and Lepcha festival).

Tingvong is a clean and green village. You are lucky to be one, visiting the beautiful land of Dzongu. The hospitality, kindness and pure heart of Lepcha people will make you one of them. Roaming around the Tinvong village is itself an awesome experience. Should visit nearby Lingzya and Rukshot waterfalls, Lungdem hot spring, and Rungyoug river. A 5 km round walk from homestay through the villages and woods, you will find the Tingvong school and the Buddhist monastery. On our way to homestay, you will find a beach!!! The Rungyoung river bank, a wide white sand ground.
Both mountain and river hiking are possible from here. One of the most memorable, and wild mountain trekking is to Keyshong. It takes seven days. The journey starts from Rumlyang homestay to Bay by four-wheeler. Then, Bay to Thulong monastery is six-hour long trek. Nextday morning, Thulong to Temrang is three hours trek. Take full day rest at Temrang. Temrang to Keyshong is a six-hour trek. Again, stay one day at Keyshong. Return via the same route. Besides mountain trekking, Rungyoug river hiking is another adventure that takes one to four days. Tourists can also trek to Pentong through woods and enjoy the most untouched and beautiful village of Dzongu. The trek completes in two days.
The nearest airport is Bagdogra (IXB). And, the nearest railway station is New Jalpaiguri (NJP). The Sikkim airport, Pakyong, is ready to be operational soon.
You can reach to Rumlyang homestay via two modes of transportation. Option A: Hire a private cab (reserved) and arrive directly at our homestay within six hours (Approx cost. INR 6K). Option B: First, take public car service (shared) from Sikkim stand (Near to Siliguri Bus stand) to Singtam. Then, take another shared car from Singtam to Mangan Bazar. Here, you need to change car and make another ride from Dzongu stand to Tingvong. It takes minimum eight hours and cost around INR 350 each. However, you have to reach Mangan Bazar before 2 PM to avail shared car.
Please keep in mind that, Dzongu is a restricted place. A special permit is required to make entry. Please contact us in advance to arrange a pass for you ( ID proof and one passport photo required). You don't need to be worried!!! We will receive you at Dzongu stand (Mangan Bazar) and take responsibility to have a pleasant stay at our place without any hectic.
